I found that Number 11 is resting on the ground.  Google Maps shows it in slightly happier days.

Here we are at the middle of summer almost and here is the most current view of the mailbox that inspired this blog and the Flickr group: Rusty Mailboxes. The honeysuckle and other vegetation are trying to take over.

RM #1 Has New Growth

. Today I noticed the Rusty Mailbox #1 has some new vegetation growing. I hope it keeps on growing; I think it adds character to the box.

I found this one on Riverside Drive in Columbus, Ohio. I'm not 100% sure if it is rusted or painted a rust color, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

I found another one close to home today - it's on Fishinger Road in Columbus, Ohio, - not too rusty though it is kind of banged up but the mailman still manages to get the mail in as you can see.

I found this one today and couldn't resist taking photos of both sides. Upper Arlington is a suburb on the northwest part of Columbus, Ohio, that takes a lot of pride in everything connected with it - well, maybe not this rusty mailbox with no door and rusted inside and out!

To be fair - this one isn't actually in Upper Arlington - it's across the river at their facility where they store the school buses, garbage trucks, etc. plus have space for work and other things that wouldn't be up to the high standards of beauty and propriety that typify the city.

As we were driving on Hilliard-Cemetery Road in the Columbus - Hilliard area of northwest Columbus I spotted three rusty mailboxes.

This one is one Fishinger Road in Norwich township between Hilliard and Upper Arlington. To me it looks like it's made of thick iron or steel so probably the rust will not destroy it soon.

Here's one in Columbus on Dunlavin Glen - I think the house is empty, perhaps new residents will spruce up the mailbox.
