Here is the mailbox that inspired this blog. It was in Columbus, Ohio, on Dublin Road north of Trabue Road - no longer accepting mail, as a new cousin stands across the road. Send in your pictures of rusty mailboxes to join it!

RM #458

Julie Carney sends this one, saying, "This photo was taken in Cooperstown Junction, Otsego County, upstate New York. My nearby hometown, Oneonta, NY, was once the home of the world's largest roundhouse for the Delaware & Hudson (D&H) railroad. Now you can find abandoned rail cars all around our area and during a photo shoot this week, I noticed this letter slot in the side of an old train car. I had no idea you could mail a letter directly into a train car back in the day."

Thanks, Julie!
